Lucille V. Leibrock of Friendship Village, Bloomington. December 19, 1915 - August 6, 2014. Longtime resident of South Minneapolis and West Bloomington. Longtime member of Lebanon Lutheran Church and later Diamond Lake Lutheran Church.
Our beloved mother will be more than greatly missed by her family. To the end she continued her loving and affectionate ways along with her quick wit and sense of humor.
Preceded in death by husband, Edward A. Leibrock.
Survived by children, Wayne Schoville (Calla), Adrianne Sampson (Bruce), Lorna Nelson (Jim), Grandchildren, Mark Schoville, Joe Schoville (Diane), Todd M. Jones, (fiancee, Joleen), Mandee Kleckner (fiancé, Kerry), Luke Kleckner (fiancee, Anna), Tricia Connor and Amy Bush. 10 great-grandchildren & 12 great-great.
When younger, she worked for the finer dining restaurants in Mpls. She studied for her Civil Service test and began work for the Mpls. School Board, later retiring from the Mpls. Police Dept.
Born near Viroqua, WI her family farmed and raised tobacco. During the Depression, her dad traded a cow to buy her a piano and she played for dances and weddings when she was only 15. Along with her antique accordion and the harmonica she played the piano and organ by ear. She sang in the choir at Lebanon Lutheran Church and while we were growing up, gave us a wonderful church community background.
She loved gardening, their cabin in Canada, our family dogs, bridge, dancing, reading, music, entertaining friends, but mostly she loved her family. She was a generous, caring person and a good friend to many. We find such comfort in how many people, over years would stop to tell us how much they loved our mother and how sweet she was. She was modest and would be embarrassed that we’re “bragging” about her, but we’re so proud of her.
We very much appreciate the kind and affectionate care she was given by the staff at Friendship Village.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the music department at Diamond Lake Lutheran Church.
Hi Adrianne and Lorna, So sorry to hear about the loss of your mother. You girls took very good care of your mother when she needed you. It was always fun to listen to your stories about her through the years. I really did not know her, except through you. Sounded like she was quite the “lady”. I can see where you two got your personalities from…both different, but both some of her. Condolences to you both! Ron and Sandy Mannz
