May 4, 1956 - May 14, 2016
Nancy Hanson Turnquist died suddenly on May 14, 2016, with her family at her side in Fargo ND. Nancy was born in Fosston, MN on May 4, 1956. She moved with her family to Bloomington, MN in 1967, graduated from Bemidji State and went on to become a world traveler. She fulfilled a dream by teaching a year in Swaziland, South Africa, and later with her husband Rick, whom she married in 1991, they traveled to Palestine to work at "The Peace Center for the Blind". They finally settled in Minneapolis, where her beloved son Zach was born. Nancy was a Para-professional, working with Autistic children, her dream job. Nancy's laugh, bright spirit, adventurous and giving nature will be missed by family and too many friends to count. She is preceded in death by her great aunt, Joyce Nesse, mother, Judith Hanson and sister, Lori Barkley. She is survived by her loving husband Rick, her beloved son Zach Turnquist, her sister Susan Hanson, favorite nieces Whitney and Kelsey Barkley and many more cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.

I will always remember Nancy she was so great with the students at Westwood. My thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time God bless
Rick and Zach, I’m so very sorry to hear that Nancy has died. It is heartbreaking; her light seemed so bright, it can’t possibly be extinguished. I will especially remember her bonding with Franklin at summer day camp at Christ the King church. Hugs to both of you, love the Rezacs.
What a lovely lady full of compassion.
