James “Dick” Stromberg

February 5, 1931 - November 27, 2017


James Richard "Dick" Stromberg age 86, passed away peacefully November 27, after a courageous battle with cancer. Preceded in death by mother, Elsie; father, James; sisters, Joyce and Marjorie, and wife Joan. Survived by children, Richard (Vicki) Stromberg, Karen (Steven) Lee, Jeffrey (Bonnie) Stromberg; grandchildren, Chris, Traci, Jaimie, Brady, Jenny, and Elise; great grandchildren Cooper, Jackson, Bennett, Caleb, and Avery. Born 2/05/1931, Dick grew up in south Minneapolis, graduated from Roosevelt High School, where he lettered in Hockey, Baseball, and Gymnastics. That is also where he met and married Joan (Steenson) Stromberg. After serving our country as a medic in the Army, stationed in Texas, then Okinawa, they lived in Richfield, where Dick and Joan raised three children. Dick worked at the Star & Tribune for many years, where he finished his career as the Superintendent of the Composing room. Dick and Joan eventually moved to West Bloomington where they retired. Dick spent much of his retirement playing golf with his wife Joan every day during the summer, and an active member of the Bloomington BAJ's during the winter. A small service for family and friends will be held at Morris Nilsen Funeral Chapel.
