Corrine I. Johnson - Morris Nilsen Funeral Chapel

May 7, 1925 - March 16, 2019

Corrine Lesteberg Johnson slipped the tethers of this world to the words of “Tis so Sweet to Trust in Jesus” in the early morning of March 16, 2019. At 93, she longed for release from chronic pain, but actively maintained communications with loved ones throughout.

Corrine grew up in Hayes Township, Swift Ct, and attended Kerkhoven HS. She was out of high school before electricity came to the farm, so she took her turn pumping water for household chores and for the livestock. Following normal school in Litchfield, she taught two years in one-room schools and after WWII (1946) married Harvey Johnson of Mamre Township. Shortly after marriage she grasped the importance of a personal relationship with the LORD Jesus. In 1960 she moved with Harvey and four children to Richfield. In 1964 she completed a degree in education and taught her whole career in the Burnsville, Savage, Eagan schools.
She was a long-time resident of Richfield and Bloomington and took part in many groups, including Bible study groups, Sons of Norway, Sigdahslag, American Swedish Institute, and two Red Hats Societies. She was a member of the Salem Covenant- Pennock, the Bethany Covenant- Richfield and, most recently, the Crosstown Covenant- Minneapolis.

Corrine is survived by brother Dennis (Shirley) Lesteberg of Burnsville, son Galen (Jill) Johnson of Minneapolis, daughters Mari (Chuck) Lunas of Spooner WI and Barb (Bill) Parenteau of Spooner WI, 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by husband Harvey E. Johnson, daughter Sharyl Miller of Three Forks MT, parents Nestor and Mabel Lesteberg of Murdock MN, siblings Hazel Wennerberg, Roy Lesteberg and Elaine Peterson.

Corrine had a passion for missions and visited her son in Africa twice- both Zaire (Congo) and Burkina Faso. She also loved to travel with friends to Europe, Scandinavia, the Holy Land and throughout the USA. She never passed up a chance to play cards or dominos, especially with her grandkids.

Her favorite hymns are ‘Day by Day, and With Each Passing Moment’ and ‘How Great Thou Art’. She hoped that her joy in her Savior was plain to see by her family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Crosstown Covenant Church.
