In the closing chapter of a beautiful love story, Marilyn Elaine Hartley, age 95, was called home by her heavenly Father on October 20, 2020. Three days later, on October 23, 2020, her devoted husband of nearly 74 years, Wayne Morton Hartley, age 94, followed her to heaven. Together, Wayne and Marilyn spent their lives devoted to God, to each other, and to their family - in that order. Marilyn was born on December 1, 1924, and she spent her life making a home for her family, always finding joy in the simple things. Wayne was born on May 3, 1926, serving in World War II and the Korean Conflict, before joining the Minneapolis Police Department where he achieved the rank of Captain before his retirement in 1984. Together, they are survived by children, Susan (Dean) Kopperud, and Thomas (Debra) Hartley; grandchildren, Katie Storms (Bryan Madson), Allison (Mark) Tupek, Anne (Daniel) Hoedeman, and Jacob Hartley (Rebecca Rajasekhar); and seven great-grandchildren.
A private funeral and interment at Fort Snelling will follow on November 4, 2020.
The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, please make a memorial to the Alzheimer’s Association or The Lutheran Hour.

Wayne was a longtime soloist at Morris Nilsen Funeral Chapel. He was a true gentleman. Losing both parents in just a few days must be overwhelming! My sympathies to your families!
