Gladys Elaine Dale

Gladys Elaine Dale (nee, Wollum) at a young age of 97 peacefully passed away on Sunday, October 25th after a courageous battle with cancer. A loving Wife, Mother and Nana, she was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Dale; daughter, Sherrie Diana and 2 infant children; her parents; many brothers and sisters, aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins. Survived by her children, Timothy (Mary Jo) Dale and Dana (Galen) Peterson; grandchildren, Sherrie (Mike) Holman, Kelsey (Chip Schultz) Peterson and many special nieces, nephews and cousins. Our father met Gladys at the age of ten growing up in the Richfield/South Minneapolis area. They were married for 69 years. She was a proud member and contributor of ‘America’s Greatest Generation’ war effort of WWII, including working at a Rayovac war factory, building critical war products. Later in life she worked at Home Insurance for over 30 years. She was an immaculate dresser. The compliments she’d receive were endless. She always looked and acted much younger than her age. After our fathers passing, she lived independently at our family home and until recently still drove to Southdale Center to walk over a mile several days a week, meeting friends for lunch and buying her favorite chocolates. She was our very own Lucille Ball. When we were young the kids on our street would affectionately call her Lucy, not only because she looked like her, she would act like her TV characters making us all laugh and smile! She loved to travel. Along with our father, they would visit 65 countries in their lifetime, Norway being their favorite. They also loved to bring us up north to Crosslake and the North Shore for countless memories.
