Stuart "Stu" Scheu - Morris Nilsen Funeral Chapel

Stuart “Stu” Scheu

March 3, 1958 - February 28, 2022

Stuart Morrison Scheu
"Stu"

Age 63, of Minneapolis. Survived by wife, Stephanie Scheu; mother, Jean Scheu; son, J. Michael Petersen; siblings, Steve (Kathy) Scheu and Susan (Steve) Huber; nieces and nephews, Lelia, Laura, Jim, Mary, Robin, Erin, Jacob, Errol, Max and Kristine and many other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by father, James Scheu; and sister, Sarah Scheu.

Stu was an amazing husband, father, businessman, mentor, and friend to so many people. He was exceptionally generous with his many talents as well as with his time. Family and friends were hugely important to him, and he was passionate about his country and the freedoms it grants. Stu was an avid reader and an equally avid gun collector. He was also a lover of animals and never met a cat or dog that didn’t love him in return.

Stu was diagnosed with colon cancer in mid-December and just couldn’t catch a break with his treatment. He started hospice at home last Friday and worked throughout the weekend on one of his favorite hobbies. Unfortunately, between Sunday night and Monday afternoon he faded fast and died peacefully at home with his wife, his son, and his niece Mary by his side.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the MN Animal Humane Society or MN Conservation Volunteer.

    Stephy

When I was in Minneapolis last summer ….I almost…did the drop in on you and Stu. Just to see you guys briefly.
Because of covid, and the fact that I had flown on an airplane….I thought it might be irresponsible of me to presume to do this–so sadly I did not.

Stu is one of the best people I ever met in my life.

I have always been so glad that you found each other…as others have noted, you clearly loved each other very much.

I am so sorry this has happened. I hate that this has happened. It is not fair.

Stu was a fine, fine man–and more. I will miss him for you, and like others have also noted, I will also miss him for myself.

“Those whom the Gods Love grow Young”

    With much, much Love,

    Your Cousin

    Tom Belanger

  11. Brian Belanger says:

Stu was a gentle man, and a gentleman. And just such a lovely person. So sad to see him go before his time, but so happy Stephie found him and had a life with him. Like with Tom last year, Covid kept us away in his hour of need. Stu was in the same hospital as my Mom back in December, but we couldn’t visit each other because of the damn pandemic. Glad we will finally be able to see each other today at Stu’s memorial, Stu’s final gift to us.

    Love,
    Brian Belanger

  12. Stuart was my cousin. I live in Alaska and am unable to attend the service – it is happening as I am writing this. I too saw his kindness, calmness, GREAT smile and the love between he and Stephanie. Such a loss and hard to understand. So sorry Stephanie, my heart goes out to you.

  13. If it is not too late please add to the comment I just submitted to include “so sorry” to Aunt Jean, Steven, Susan and all the family,

  14. My only experience with Stu was sharing dinner conversation at last year’s S&W Collectors Association. In that brief period of time however, Stu left a lasting impression on being an honest individual with a good heart and a great sense of humor. Few people can convey those qualities in such a short span of time, which speaks volumes for Stu. I am not only sad for his family but also at my loss for not being able to spend more time with this remarkable person. To his family and friends, your loss must be tremendous.

  15. Julie S. Leidy says:

I had last spoken to Stu back in January and he mentioned his health, I truly did not think that would be the last time we would speak. Stu was a customer of ours for decades and I always enjoyed his calls. He was friendly, thoughtful and smart and always asked after my family. We are very saddened by the news and wish to convey our condolences to his family and friends.

  16. Margaret Callan says:
