Mary Elizabeth DuBay
Mom was born July 29, 1930 in Ceylon India. She passed away peacefully on March 23, 2022 at Carondelet Village in St. Paul, MN. She had a strong faith and love of God and her church.
Mom spent her younger years growing up in both Ceylon and England. In 1944, she traveled by ship aboard the Queen Mary to the US. She graduated from Red Wing High School and attended nursing school in Minneapolis. She met her husband Paul at Lake Harriet, while sunbathing with friends. They were married in 1954 and had six children. Her one true love, Paul passed too soon in December 1970. Mom worked as a CNA at a nursing home in Bloomington for her entire career. She was an active member of the Assemblies of God Church and sang in the choir for nearly 40 years. Mom enjoyed reading, playing the piano, trying new restaurants, and the movies. She spent time traveling, tending to her many houseplants and her beautiful flower gardens. She knitted baby booties and donated hundreds to area hospitals. Mom loved animals, the ocean, the company of her friends and her loving family. Her twin brother Joe, was her best friend and they shared a special bond.
She is preceded in death by her missionary parents, Rev. Walter H. Clifford and Viola May,
husband, Paul Junior DuBay; son, Paul David DuBay; three sisters and four brothers as well as one sister-in-law. She is survived by her children, Terry DuBay, Tammie (Alan) Olson, Rosalie (Dan) Hinrichs, Joel (Lori) DuBay, and Robert DuBay; 18 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren; her brother, Joseph Clifford; two sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.
