Lee E. Covart, Jr., age 86, of Apple Valley, formerly of Burnsville, went to be with his Lord on September 21, 2022. He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Bonnie; children, Kathy Brinkman, David (Mary) Covart, and Dan (Karolyn) Covart; grandchildren, Mike (Kelsey) Covart, Debbie Covart, Bonnie Covart, Charlie (Michelle) Covart, and Chris (Kelley) Covart; great-granddaughter, Cameron Covart. Preceded in death by parents, Lee and Ann Covart and son Lee Covart, III. Lee was a Richfield High School math teacher for 32 years. He also worked on the school musicals, prom, and drivers ed. Lee loved to play cards and enjoyed traveling the world with his wife. He was also very involved with his church, including chancel choir and other committees. Lee was also on the board at Richfield Bloomington Credit Union for many years.
There will be a light lunch after the Service.

I met Lee as part of being on the Board of Directors at RBCU (now MyCreditUnion). I was a young newbie on the board (in my early 30s at the time), and he immediately made me feel welcomed and appreciated. As a long-time member of the credit union, its board, and the community, he had a wealth of knowledge to share and had so much history in his head of all of the key moments and decisions (both good and bad) that happened, and he was passionate about doing what was best for the community. I loved his whit, his gift with numbers, and the comical and entertaining way of posing questions or making profound statements. He was serious at times, but also light-hearted and so easy to get along with. He served his community far better than I can ever hope to, but I will do my best to follow his example. My condolences to all those that are grieving the loss of such an amazing person. He clearly lived a long and full life, but even so, it is hard to say goodbye to such a good and kind soul. May you rest in peace, Lee.
So sorry for the family’s loss. Lee will be missed. He was one of the good guys!

I am so surprised to hear of Lee’s passing. I have many wonderful memories of being with and chatting with Lee at our Credit Union meetings. I so respected all of his well thought out ideas at our meetings. We also laughed a lot. Lee always has something fun to tell us.
Again I am so sorry and please know that Lee was loved by a lot of us.

To the Covart Family ,
I had Mr. Covart as an Algebra teacher and AV advisor at Richfield High School in 1968-1969. He was a great teacher , mentor , and helped lots of high school kids prepare to become adults . He was known as a tough teacher but he had a way to get us to want to learn . He was one of the good guys during the hay days of Richfield High and will be missed !!
I had the pleasure to help out Lee for over three years. I will truly miss our weekly talks and listening to his many stories about his family, jobs and travels. He never said an unkind work about anyone — a true gem I will forever miss. RIP Lee .
My sympathies to Lee’s family. I remember Lee as a fun-loving and intelligent man whose interests ranged far wider than the math he taught. I am Bonnie’s cousin. I remember many fun times playing Rummy Royal with Lee, Bonnie, Auntie Doris, and Uncle Larry. Lee and Bonnie also were present at many other family events. I have sent a donation to the American Heart Association in Lee’s memory. I hope happy memories of Lee will comfort you in your grief.
