Paul Griswold Thompson

Age 97, of Richfield, passed away September 1, 2022. Paul received his BSEE from Purdue University, a Ph.B from the University of Chicago, he was a Certified Electrical Engineer and Certified Quality Engineer, and he was proud to be a decorated WWII veteran. Paul spent many years working at Honeywell, General Controls, and Control Data Corp, Concourse where he held various middle management positions in research, education, finance, computer maintenance, and sales. He retired in 1985 from Control Data Corp. as Director and later retired in 1991 from Concourse as one of their salesmen. Paul’s hobbies included bird carving, playing Renaissance music with Musical Antiqua of Minnesota, and was a Bassoonist with several community orchestras in Twin Cities and Mesa, AZ. Paul also enjoyed backpacking and canoeing.

He is survived by his children, Susan (Timm) Phillips, Margaret Thompson (Dale Buckentin), Stephen Thompson, and Mark (Kirstin) Thompson; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Laura (Jones); parents, Raymond and Martha Mae Thompson; and siblings, Margaret and James.
