Ruthann Lois Clay
Age 79, of Richfield. Proud supporter of many Richfield community organizations, primarily the Richfield Historical Society. Active at House of Prayer where she generously donated her time and talents. Honored member of the Red Hat Society.
Preceded in death by husband, Richard Clay; parents, George and Winnie Duffy; sisters-in-law, Barbara Clay and Ruth Clay. Survived by sons, Jon (Sandy) Clay and Don Clay; grandchildren, Miriam Clay, Tyler Clay and Rachel Clay; brother, Phillip (Anne) Duffy; brothers-in-law, David Clay and Daniel Clay; as well as many relatives and friends.
Memorial preferred to House of Prayer Lutheran Church or Richfield Historical Society.

I am so proud to be Ruthann’s
“little brother “ There are so many stories in my heart about my sister. A few that stand out to me was her positive attitude. Even with her problems she would always turn the conversation away from herself and ask how you were doing. Her love for others and her devotion to her church and the Richfield Historical Society was beyond spectacular.
When she got her first pay check she started a savings account for me and that always is who she was. I’m not good at the words that express my love for my big sister but my heart is broken that she is gone. I am so thankful she was in my life and I’m am thankful that her pain is over. I know she is watching over me and her family.
I have been thinking of Ruth and her family. She was a wonderful woman.
She called me “sister” though we were not. Highly spited, generous always of heart, ready to reach out her hand to anyone in need
Ruthann was very nice to me she was a paraprofessional at south education center in richfield when I was in the transition plus program

I have such fond memories of Ruthann supporting me during our years in scouting with Troop 339. I wish her a peaceful rest and will keep Jon, Don and their families in my thoughts.
I will miss Ruthann for as long as I live. Her heart was filled with love and caring for others and I will always feel blessed that I was also a recipient. She welcomed me into the family with warmth and affection. She never missed my birthday, was compassionate with my health trials, always asked about me when she talked with her Phillip. She made me giggle like “sisters” do and I loved her for that. Over time (last 27 years almost) my admiration for her only grew, not only for all of her work serving her community, but for her generous spirit and loving heart. She was a mighty fine woman and I know she will be sadly missed by all who knew her, all who love her.

Sorry to miss the Memorial. I was diagnosed with Covid Sunday and need to isolate. Your Mother was such a big part of the Richfield community and we were so glad to share some time with her at the Historical Society Banquet. AND she did a lot of good things but raising you two young men was something done well! We will miss her!
