March 25, 1960 - October 28, 2024
Donald A. Maple, age 64, passed away peacefully in his sleep after a long struggle with heart disease.
Don was born on March 25, 1960 in Minneapolis, MN. The youngest of three children, he was baptized into the Christian faith in April of 1960 at St. James Lutheran Church on 48 th Street and Portland Avenue in Minneapolis. He was confirmed at Redemption Lutheran Church in the spring of 1974. He graduated from Bloomington Lincoln High School in 1978. He was a kind, loving soul living most of his life in the Bloomington area. After high school, he worked many years in sales selling luxury boats at Minnetonka Boat Works in Wayzata. Later, he worked at R & R Marine, Jeff Belzer Auto in Lakeville, Menard’s and Snap Construction. Over the recent years, he spent many hours creating beautiful items made from wood including benches, charcuterie boards, crosses and wood carvings. He gave many beautiful wood items as gifts to family and friends. Don enjoyed being with family on Christmas, especially his tradition of handing out two-dollar bills to his young nephews. Don also had a gorgeous tenor voice, and he enjoyed singing and performing. He performed at church services for many years and he sang solos at many funeral services. Don was generous to all who knew him. He was always there to help anyone with anything. Don helped his neighbors and friends with many home repair projects and he will be missed by them including his close friends Kathy and Tomcat. He also liked dogs and had many chocolate and black labs throughout the years.
In April of this year, Don’s generous heart started to fail. This slowed him down and left Don in pain with diminished strength. Don was a firm believer in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He knew where he was going and he was not afraid. We will hold him in our memories and miss him until we meet again.
He is survived by his mother, Carolyn Maple; sister, Roxanne Ahmann (Michael Varani); brother, Robert Maple (Barb); nephews Gregory and David Ahmann, and Brandon and Dylon Maple; 1 great niece and 3 great nephews.
Preceded in death by father, Bernard Maple, and grandparents, Warner and Magdalene Borchardt.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Redemption Lutheran Church.
