Anna Marie Straub

Anna Marie Straub, born in Ottertail County, Minnesota to Carl and Julia Knudson. Anna lived in the farming community in and around Henning, Minnesota. Anna was valedictorian of her graduating class in 1947 in Henning, Minnesota. She married her childhood sweetheart, Gerald Straub on April 21, 1948. During her marriage to Gerald, they moved several times and she worked in the offices of Coast to Coast in Hopkins, Minnesota and KRIB radio in Mason City, Iowa. After Gerald's retirement they bought ShingWako Resort in Merrifield, Minnesota, which they ran for 10 years. During their time in the Brainerd area, Anna received the prestigious Melvin Jones Fellowship Award from the Lions Club. Anna and Gerry resided in the Brainerd area until recently moving to Edina, Minnesota. Anna is survived by her husband of 68 years, Gerry; sons, Terry Straub of Richfield, Minnesota and his wife Beverly, Jeff Straub of Waubun, Minnesota and his wife, Patty and her family; grandsons, Gabe Straub of Richfield and his wife Becky, Justin Straub of South St. Paul, Minnesota and his wife Kristin; great-granddaughters, Evelyn and Ruby; sisters, Helen Christenson, Millie Stras, Florence Green; and many nieces and nephews and their families; sisters-in-law, Iola Sweere and her family, Jackie Straub and her family. Preceded in death by parents Carl and Julia Knudson; siblings Harlan Knudson, Curtis Knudson, Corrine Floen, Ernest Knudson, Emma Moen, Elmer Knudson, Lloyd Knudson, and several brothers and sisters-in-law.
