Bjorn C. Hagen - Morris Nilsen Funeral Chapel

June 13, 1926 - January 19, 2022

Bjorn C. Hagen, age 95, of Richfield, passed away January 19, 2022. He was born June 13, 1926 in Oslo, Norway and his family moved to Brooklyn NY, before moving back to Norway in 1935. His goal had been to become a veterinarian but the occupation impacted his education and career prospects; he took up a highly skilled trade and became a Master Furrier. He met his wife Gerd Fremming while they were waiting in a Red Cross soup-line. In 1947, they moved back to the U.S. and became parents of Rolf Hagen in 1951. Bjorn joined the Norwegian Glee Club, became its President in 1960, and served in that role several times over his nearly 70 years of membership. His greatest joy was singing "The Lost Chord", as a baritone soloist in front of a combined Sangerfest mass chorus. Bjorn received a diamond medal from NSAA in 1998, after attending 20 Sangerfests. He was the long-time owner and furrier of Bjorn C. Hagen Furs.
He was preceded in death by son, Rolf; his parents, and brother, Kjell Hagen. He is survived by Gerd, his wife of 73 years; daughter-in-law, Zelle Hagen; grandchildren, Brock Hagen and Jillian Ruston and husband, Ellis; great-grandson, Alex; and sister-in-law, Grete Hagen; niece, Beate Rho (Noah) and their sons, Presley and Peyton; and many loving family and friends.

Masks required at the Visitation and Service.

Memorials may be given to the donor's choice.
