December 7, 1928 - March 23, 2020
Carol A. Mittelsteadt, of Bloomington and Richfield, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2020. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Carol joins Bernie, her beloved husband of over 50 years, in heaven. She is survived by her two children, John Mittelsteadt (Lisa) and Ann Tillotson (Chris). She was grandmother to 5 boys, Marcus, Michael and Matthew Mittelsteadt and Max, and Jack Tillotson, whom she loved dearly. Carol was a graduate of Waterville High School. She graduated from Mankato State University and then pursued her master's degree in English at the University of Minnesota. She started her teaching career in LeCenter and later taught English and Drama at Wayzata High School. Carol was actively involved in her Richfield community, politics, and church. Her best times were spent playing duplicate bridge, attending her grandsons' school events, enjoying time with family, and cheering for the Minnesota Gophers. In light of the current environment, a private family service will be held. A celebration of life has been deferred at this time. Please direct memorials to the Animal Humane Society.

Ann,
Thinking of you and your family at this most difficult time. May you always remember the vibrant and interesting woman your mother was! Love to you all!
John and Ann,
I have so many memories of our moms together. The midnight phone calls where they would talk while we were sleeping (or at least my mom thought we were). I know my mom was ironing, I don’t know what yours was doing. The phone was their lifeline. They talked about sports, family, world news. I’m sure they are now catching up on everything they haven’t been able to say for the past 5+ years. My heart goes out to you. Please let me know when you plan the Celebration of Life.
