Clifford Severson

Clifford Elmore Severson, born on family farm near Racine, MN, on July 22, 1923, died peacefully on May 4, 2016, in Edina, MN. Educated at the local one-room school, graduated from Stewartville High School, served in the USMC during WWII achieving the rank of Captain, graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Business degree and married Elenore Asp. Cliff worked at Buttrey's, as GOP MN State Finance Chairman and 30 years as a securities trader/broker. A strong advocate for AA, actively helping others through speaking at meetings and treatment centers. He died just shy of his 30th anniversary of sobriety. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sever and Albertine Severson; 4 siblings, daughter, Pamela, grandson Nathan and former wife, Elenore. He is survived by daughter, Janet (Gene) Kretzschmar; son, David (Dawn) Severson, Kenneth (Paula) Severson, Bruce (Renee) Severson and Philip (Marjory) Severson; 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
