Dorothy L. Nelson

Dorothy Loraine Nelson (nee, Olson), age 97 of Bloomington MN passed away peacefully March 16, 2016. Preceded in death by husband, William; brothers, Ralph "Bud" Olson and Chuck Olson; and sister, Adair Erickson. Survived by children, Bruce (Barbara) Nelson, Jackie (James) Muehl, Ginger Pfau, and Jerry (Terri) Nelson; grandchildren, Lara (Nelson) Schreck, Jennifer (Nelson) Taylor, Sarah (Muehl) Madrid, Bill Muehl, Kristina (Muehl) Gern, Michael Pfau, Julie Pfau, Matthew Nelson, Aaron Nelson, and Emily (Nelson) Herset; 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was born on February 26, 1919 in Minneapolis. She married "her Bill" in 1941; they moved to Bloomington and built the home where she lived for 68 years until her death. She earned her Registered Nurse diploma from Eitel Hospital and worked there for many years. A natural caregiver, she opened her home and heart to her large extended family when needed. She was an active member of Emmaus Lutheran Church for many years. She was proud of her Norwegian roots. She loved baking, babies, having company, camping/road trips, spending a month every year at a cabin near Cross Lake, and especially her Lord Jesus. She was a blessing and will be greatly missed.
