  1. I am so sorry to see this. He was one-of-a-kind! He was a friend and my piano-tuner. One of the most interesting musicians I have ever played with…

I am so very sorry Ed has passed. We were very close when we were younger. I have tried to keep in touch over the years, but haven’t talked to him since mid-winter. He always had something to say to make me laugh, and something profound to say to make me think. I loved the days in the ’70s of being with whatever band he played in. Rest well, Ed – your struggle is done.

I feel lucky to have seen him play a few times many years ago. Universal Intelligence was my first live show and having the band visit your table at your first show was was a pretty rock and roll moment for me. He was the most unique and interesting person I had ever met at the time. Ed and his family are in my thoughts.

He was a friend of mine since the 80’s and lived in a tiny house on 28th av s across from Nokomis condominiums he once had a piano in his pickup truck that fell out when he turned the corner on the parkway ✍️ I helped him get it back in he was so grateful I was there to help I just found out he passed away today 9/30/23 when I tried to refer Ed to tune a piano

I am so sorry to hear that my friend and piano tuner extraordinaire, Ed Levin, has passed on. He was a remarkable human, being his best self in every way that he could. May he be enjoying playing music to his fullest!

I believe that Ed Levine was the most interesting person I’ve ever met.
I was only 15 years old at the time and lived in California with my parents my father a doctor in the Palm Desert area of California. It was Easter time and his family was visiting the area and staying at Casa Dorado Indian Wells, Ed told me he had a band and was living in the basement of his parents home, he asked me, if there was a piano anywhere that he could play? I said, “Yes at my family’s home, I told him to bring a bathing suit he could go swimming and play the piano and have some fun.” Ed tickled the ivories and also my heart, although I was way too young for him he never asked me my age but wrote me from Minneapolis, many times and then showed up about 3 months later to ask me to join him in his band at his parents house and live with him. I was shocked and surprised but amused that he thought I was old enough to leave my parents house.
Head showed up after hitchhiking I think from Minneapolis to see me unexpectedly. He was a hippie at heart and I was a kid that looked way older than my years as females do at the age of 15. He camped out in the area at the foothills of our mountains for 2 days and I realized he had no idea how old I was. I asked him if he knew how old I was and when I told him he soon packed his things and realized I would not be leaving my family’s home to take up with him in Minneapolis and join his crew of friends Rock away in his parents’ basement. Ed was quite the pianist and a terrific writer of songs at least the ones he did to me during the 6 months that I knew him. Rock on Ed to the end of time! You I’m sure will never be forgotten. It was the time not forgotten and I’m very sorry to hear of your passing for the friends that you have left behind will never forget you. I never did!
