We will greatly miss our dear friend George and we extend our heartfelt sympathy to Jean.
Unfortunately, we are now traveling in Finland and Norway so will not be able to attend the memorial service. Part of our travels include a Norwegian coastal voyage which we learned so much about from George after he had made a similar trip. We will be reminded of George daily as we see the magnificent scenery along the coast of Norway.
I just happened to see a copy of the paper and was sad to see a name I knew. Haven’t seen you at the Booyas for a few years but haven’t forgotten you. My mom is in assisted living in Silver Bay and hasn’t made any raspberry jam in a few years. Her jam kettles have gone to my daughter. Big shoes to fill. My daughter, Julie, and a small committee brought back the Booya this year. Last year we didn’t have one as our church people were all getting older and tired so they retired from doing it!! You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. Your friend, Diane (Eric’s daughter-in-law and Eric Jr’s wife) Love to you all.
As one of George’s students at South High School (a “few” years ago) I can say that George was absolutely the best! As I look back on those years, only George and my not necessarily “favorite” English teacher left impressions and values that have stayed with me and guided me. I know George did this with many others, to their benefit. My family and I were honored to be able to stay in contact with George and Jean over the years and I know that George is now safely in God’s everlasting love and care!
