Herbert Hoglund

Herbert B. Hoglund, age 84, of Richfield died surrounded by his loving family on October 11, 2014. Herb will be deeply missed by his wife, Ruth, of 53 years; sons, Curt (Irene), Greg (Jackie) and Larry (Kathy); 5 grandchildren, Garett, Morgan, Brandon, Ryan and Zachary; sister, Julie Roth and brother, Lyle Hoglund. Herb was born in Minneapolis, MN on July 29, 1930 to Arthur and Margaret Hoglund. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Robert and George. Herb graduated from Shakopee High School in 1948. After school he enlisted in the Army and served in the Korean War, and then spent 40 hardworking years at Koch Oil Refinery and Metropolitan Waste Control. He was a longtime member of the International Union of Operating Engineers-Local 35. His greatest joy was spending time at his cabin, woodworking, gardening, storytelling and spending time with his family and friends. The family wishes to thank the caregivers at VA Memory Daycare and Heritage of Edina for their dedication to Herb's care.

Funeral service Friday, October 17, 2014, at 12:30 PM at Morris Nilsen Funeral Chapel, 6527 Portland Ave. S., Richfield, with visitation beginning at 11:00 AM. Interment at Pleasant View Memorial Gardens, Burnsville.
