Star and family,
Jim was the best! He was my very first boss at the original Carriere’s Floral and what an impact those years were for me. The Carriere’s all had such a love for business and they were amazing entrepreneurs before being one was a “cool” thing. I learned a lot about what it took to run a business successfully. I learned to love flowers, helping customers, being bone tired after a big holiday and yet still how to laugh and laugh at the end of the day. The brothers were a team and showed all of us in the “backroom” how to work as a team. I do not know how they decided their roles in the business but it seemed to flow seamlessly.
Jim was a caring boss, understood how to take unfocused teenagers as employees and turn them into good employees. He had a big heart, a beautiful sense of humor, we all know how much he loved Star and his kids. I bet there will be a big hoopla when all the brothers are back together.
May God be present 24/7 as you meet sadness and the feelings of emptiness without him. He is near, he cared too much to be never far away from you.
Love and Blessings,
Kathy Christianson Grundei
I will always remember Jim fondly and my heart has ached for the family during these last couple of weeks. I was able to work with him at Woodlake for the organization of Poinsettias and Easter Flowers. He truly had a gift for floral and plant design and display. He fondly told me stories of working in the business and how his company was the first to offer Woodlake the plant sales package for the holidays. I was able to create a new order form for sales one year, and it ended up being a form that that he was so excited about and proud of. He even kept a copy in his pocket to show off the work to anyone who would listen on Sunday morning. That meant so much to me. I saw in late November, he was dressed in a lovely sweater and had a smile ear to ear when he came to talk to me. I will forever cherish this final interaction.
My prayers and peace to the Carriere family at this time,
– Kristie Olson
Jim was our neighbor and very dear friend- more like family really. He loved to help his neighbors and was the first to shovel snow, bring out garbages, help with leaves and yard work, bring newspapers to the door and whatever needed to be done, but with a strong preference for being outside or in his immaculately organized garage.
My husband and he both loved to shovel but he just couldn’t be beat in shovel wars. He was always the first on the job!
He looked after our house when we were out of town and always walked the entire house every day when we were gone to make sure that everything was all right. That’s how he did everything- just as well as it could be done!
We all turned to him for tools or advice when a job was at hand. He was a talented handyman and loved to help.
He felt very proud of his beloved Starr and often told us that all of the boys wanted to date Starr and he couldn’t believe how lucky he was to marry her. He was also very proud of his children and grandchildren and loved to tell about their successes.
We will miss him more than we can say. He was the nicest man ever and truly one of a kind.
Pat says- I sure will miss you my friend. And I sure will too.
Love to the Carriere’s
Prayers for you at this time. Your iny prayers.
