Joan Mary Fuchs - Morris Nilsen Funeral Chapel

November 27, 1947 - March 9, 2025

Joan Mary Fuchs (née, Dimond)

Joni left us unexpectedly on March 9, 2025 at the age of 77. She was born and raised in St. Paul, surrounded by a large, supportive family throughout her life. She is preceded in death by her parents, Grover and Patricia Dimond; and brother, Richard. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Paul Tillman Fuchs; siblings, Mike (Sandy), Jim (Sharon), Tom (Susan), Grover III (Peg Michels), Susan (Eric) Flach, David (Gail); and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Joni earned her BA from the U of M and worked for the Minneapolis Housing & Redevelopment Authority during the 70’s. While working full time, she pursued and received her MBA from St. Thomas, launching a career in banking before transitioning to graphic design and administrative management. After leaving the business world, Joni found immense joy in caring for and spending time with her beloved nieces and nephews.

She was happiest at the cabin she shared with her husband, Paul, on the North Shore, where she enjoyed walks among the trees, wildflowers, and her beautiful gardens, all while taking in the stunning views of Lake Superior. A kind, sweet, and caring woman, Joni had a unique gift for seeing the hidden beauty in everything and everyone she encountered. She also possessed an incredible talent for weaving and other fiber arts. She is so missed!

In lieu of flowers, memorials are kindly requested to be made to a charity of your choice.

We are so sorry for your loss. We always enjoyed the beautiful postcards she would mail us from the cabin. The photos shots of the flower gardens and her weaving were beautiful. Our prayers and thoughts are with you. God Bless

    Hi Paul.

Sorry to see Joni’s obituary in the St Paul Pioneer Press. Please know that I feel very sorry for your loss. I realize that we haven’t seen each other for many years, but I want you to know that I really respected you at the MHRA/MCDA. Hopefully our paths will cross again at a future MHRA/MCDA “event”. (I have a platelet donation appointment with the American Red Cross on March 19th at 11:00; otherwise I would be at the funeral to personally express my condolences to you.) My thoughts and prayers are with you. Take care.
