Joan Megard Smith, age 90, passed away January 17, 2016 at Dove Healthcare West in Eau Claire, WI with Mayo Hospice. She was born July 15, 1925 in Minneapolis to Clarence and Edna Megard. She married Jack Smith on 9/09/1949. She worked at Cream of Wheat and later for Northwestern Bell as an executive secretary. She is survived by daughters, Nancy (AJ) Smith, and Sarah (Paul) Pedersen; son, Scott (Mary) Smith; grandchildren, Daniel (Jessica) Smith, Genevieve (Casey) Smith-Reiter, Scott Smith, Jr., Eric (Claire) Pedersen, and Emily Pedersen; and 4 great-grandchildren, Lexis, Noelle, Viviana and Bentley. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack in 2009; and grandson, Kirk Pedersen.
The family would like to thank all the wonderful staff at Orchard Hills and Dove Healthcare West in Eau Claire for the loving and compassionate care they provided for our mom over the last six years.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Richfield Lutheran Church, or Trinity Lutheran Church, Eau Claire, WI, or to Dove Health Care West Activities Fund.

My sincere sympathies to your entire family on the passing of a wonderful lady. I was your mom’s (and dad’s) dental hygienist for over 20 years and so enjoyed seeing them every time they came into our office. She was so kind and happy and so proud of her entire family. I missed her greatly when she moved to Eau Claire to be close to family. Blessings to you all as you celebrate this fine woman.
