Rest in peace, my dear sweet John. You are now with your forever love, “Fluffy”, in heaven.
Your loving daughter-in-law,
Pam
He was the father of my first husband, Steve, and the grandfather of our son, Chris. John was a very soft-hearted person, kind, and extremely funny. I have many happy memories of visiting him and my mother-in-law, Dee, at their home in Bloomington, where they were always the most gracious hosts, and where we always had a good time. We knew he had been in the Navy in World War II, and we learned many years ago that he was actually a medic with the Marines when they landed on Iwo Jima, where the most ferocious and horrible fighting took place. This was something he could never really talk about. I can’t even imagine what he must have experienced as a 19 or 20 year old. Yet, he could be so funny! He had a very zany sense of humor that Steve shared. I really loved that about both of them.
