Tamia, you would have loved to hang with him in person he was a big positive energy whenever he walked in the room!!! He was funny and witty and extremely knowledgeable! Just fun to be around just like you and Desean!! I love you guys dearly, hope to see you both soon for the holidays!!
I had the privilege of having John as my father in law. He was so kind and caring. If you knew him was to love him, he always had this amazing smile that lit up a room. John always was trying to tell our pull a joke on someone. From the moment he came into my life he was always calling and checking up on me, we played the biggest game of phone tag ever! I will never forget going to an Eagles game with him, well the Vikings. We say and razzed each other when our team made a touchdown. For me it wasn’t about the game it was having the ability to sit and enjoy moments like that. I am truly going to miss him and our phone calls. I am so lucky to have know him and have him as my father in law. Heaven truly gained an angel and I know that he’s up there cutting up in true John fashion. Rest in paradise and we will see each other again. Until that time rest easy. My deepest condolences go out to the entire family. I wish I could have been there but I will be in spirit. I love all of you dearly.

Hey Dad in heaven! I love you so much and Miss you endlessly
I’d like to express my heartfelt condolences to a man I highly respected. I met John at Veteran’s Services at the Courthouse in Minneapolis. He helped with me disability paperwork that made a huge difference in my life and allowed me to receive full benefits. We got to know each other over a few years and developed a friendship. I hadn’t seen John for a couple of months and checked with his work and found out that he was in the hospital. At one point, I went to visit him in the hospital and found out that he had to have his legs amputated. I saw his true character in that moment. He never felt sorry for himself, but even in the midst of his suffering he always kept the focus on others and cared about how me and my family were doing. He carried his thoughtful nature throughout our friendship. He called frequently and always asked about my life. Sometimes we talked about faith and God’s goodness and I know John is in a good place today. He also talked about his wife and his love for her was evident.
Rodney thank you for sharing your wonderful story, yes he was an incredible man. So smart, so thoughtful, so strong. His resilience for life was amazing. I am glad you two created a friendship and I know he misses us all. Wish you all the best. His Daughter: Jacquelyn Bowman
