John "Jade" Anthony Bates
It is with great sadness that on Friday, April 30th, 2021, John "Jade" Anthony Bates, a loving husband and father, passed away peacefully at home from a long battle from a rare disease, with his wife by his side.
Jade was born and raised in Milwaukee, WI and lived most of his life in Minneapolis, MN. He loved music, movies, art and being with friends and family.
Enjoyed cooking and baking for his family. Worked hard his whole adult life. Became a devoted husband to Liz, and father of twin boys Ki and Kadin now age 11, who were the light of his life. Loved his Mother dearly and had faith in the Lord. He will be missed greatly and never forgotten. Taken from us way too soon.
He leaves behind his wife Liz, their twin boys Ki and Kadin and many family members and friends. He may rest in peace now with his Mother and two older brothers.
In his honor, we will have a celebration of life this summer
Jade was such an awesome husband, dad and friend. We will miss him so much. Love to Liz, Ki and Kadin.
Dear Liz, Kadin and Ki,
We are thinking of all of you today and in the days to come. Sending my deepest sympathy for the loss of your husband Liz and your father Kadin and Ki. I remember your dad coming to school and seeing him here at Wenonah with you when you were in second grade. He was always so proud of his boys and all of your accomplishments. All of the people here at LNCS are thinking of you and sending you our love and support.
Fondly,
Mrs. Priglmeier

I met Jade in a funny way and my gut feeling was that he was a good man so I showed him around here in Tucson Arizona where he knew no one you will be missed if you ask me how he died I’d rather talk about how he lived a good man father to twins and a good husband to his wife God bless him he is at peace and I will be with him someday
Dear Liz, Ki & Kaden,
I want to send my love and comfort during this time and always. Jade is taking with him the comfort of knowing he has left us with two amazing young men to continue his legacy and love. Ki and Kadin, you both have been so strong and brave throughout your Dad’s illness. Remember, your Dad will always be with you, cheering you on from above.
Hugs to you all.
I remember the mornings at the bus stop both Jade and I were night shifters so the bus stop was part of our bedtime routine. Our boys eager to go and Jade and I ready to rest. Enjoy your rest brother, you deserve it.
Jade was a loving husband, father, and a gentle soul. Much of the time we spent with him was while the Bates lived in Arizona. One great memory that comes to mind is a trip to Mexico. This was the first time Jade saw the ocean. We spent all day on the beach playing in the surf and riding an inflatable crocodile. And of course, we ate lots of shrimp, carne asada tacos, and had a few Corona with lime. We will cherish the memories we made with Jade and the Bates family. We will miss his infectious smile and low laugh. I am sure his boys will make him proud as he looks down on them from above.
Jade was an amazing and loving person. Some of my fondest memories are with Jade and Liz visiting in Arizona. I remember Jade as a talented chief and caring man. He would always have a very welcoming smile that would warm my heart when I saw him. I wish I could have seen you more but I know I will see you again. This isn’t goodbye it’s see you later.
Jade, thank you for being a good father and husband. Your wife and kids will be taken care of. I promise. I wish we could have gotten to know each other better. See you on the flip side Jade. Maybe then we can play some music together.
