So sorry to hear of John’s death. Time flies so fast. It is hard to believe it was over 40-50 years ago he drove ambulance in Brainerd and was a good friend to all us in this area. My husband, Jim Fredstrom died about 20 years ago, and worked for John for many good years. It is so comforting to know you have your wonderful children and grandchildren to comfort you at this time. With sincere sympathy and love to all of you, Bobbie Fredstrom
Grandpa John set a wonderful example of kindness, patience and service to others. I miss working with him and hearing his laugh and his jokes. The clients loved him and to this day, they ask about Grandpa John.
On behalf of all employees at Contemporary Transportation, we are sorry for your loss and grieve with you.
Pat – and family, My sympathy at the death of John. I am recalling a day in 1958. The principal called me from class and said to go to his office. You can imagine my absolute fear: “What had I done?” (something about a sense of guilt??) John introduced himself and said that the Frazee High School principal recommended me. John asked me to work for him. It was my first job! I’m still not certain about the recommendation nor why John trusted me but it went well. And Pat, I remember your wedding day as I “held the for.t” When you and John arrived that night and relieved me, I was surprised. I still wonder if you ever had a honeymoon?? Time and space have taken place and we lost touch. I was enrolled in Mort Sci for four quarters but the call to ministry prevailed, and I was/am ordained for 48 years now–fifteen of that as a parish pastor, twenty as a hospital chaplain-educator, and now this is my fourteenth year retired and living beside a small lake near Danbury, WI.
I do credit John for trusting me and convincing this Minnesota farm boy that I could go to college and that caring for people whether as a funeral director or as a pastor–caring when people are most vulnerable is a gift. I saw that gift in John and his witness influenced my calling. I am grateful. Please give my regards to your family–a stranger to them appreciated their dad/grandpa! Blessings, Arne
He was the Very Best Dad anyone could ever have!
He took us fishing nightly when we were up in Pequot Lakes and there was never a dull moment.
He would take us to work with him giving us jobs and vehicles with insurance…..Very Odd…but he loved to see us happy and thriving.
Actually he Loved to make Everyone Happy! Im positive it was because he had a Good relationship with God, our Saviour. That special bond always picked him up when times weren’t so good and set him up to succeed in life.
I Love him So Much!
