John Leenay

Age 63 of Wichita, Kansas passed away on May 13, 2021. John was born in Elgin, MN to Maurice and Betty Leenay, their first child, on March 11, 1958. The family moved to Minneapolis in 1963 and he started kindergarten at Resurrection Catholic school in South Minneapolis. He attended High School at St. Thomas Academy and then went to the University of Minnesota. He received his M.A. at St. Cloud State University and a doctorate from Illinois School of Professional Psychology. He enjoyed singing, playing the piano and a beautiful day at Lake Nokomis. He married Jennie Willis of Chicago in 1992 and had 3 wonderful daughters. He is survived by Jasmine (Travis) Wachter of St. Paul, Johnnay Leenay of Brooklyn NY, and Jennie Leenay of St. Paul, four grandchildren, Emmy, Layana, Nahlea, and Riddikk Wachter. Mother, Betty Leenay of Richfield, and brothers and sisters, Dr. Stephen (Jill) Leenay, David (Lynette) Leenay, Mary (Dan) Wieser, Kathleen (Michael) Pasch, and Sue (Jim) Filkins. Preceded in death by his brother Michael in 1988 and his father in 2017
