John Steven Broscoff (Johnny) was born on Sept 20, 1926 to Ukrainian immigrant parents Fred and Francinia Broscoff near Albert Lea, Minnesota. He grew up in various small communities around New Richland and Waseca, Minnesota. John attended Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis and become a machinist when he was 16. He then went to work at Superior Separator making things for submarines for the war. He was drafted in September 1944 and joined the Navy, where he was assigned to the troop transport ship USS Harris and later served on the USS General J.C. Breckinridge. He was discharged in December 1946. After the service he worked at Armour for a short time, then he worked at Sears until 1950 until he went to work at Thermo King where he stayed until he retired. He met Geralyn Bushey while they were both working at Sears and they were married in Faribault on September 2, 1950. They lived in several small apartments before buying a house on Upton Ave. and they later bought their house on James Ave where they lived until moving into assisted living in Delano, Minnesota. Gerry & John had three children,Karen (Mark) Hansen, Keith (Ann) Broscoff, Kent (Julie) Broscoff. They have 10 grandchildren Melissa (Jason), Maureen (Chris), John (Chen), Nicole (Eric), Steven, Nathanael (Danielle), Rachel (Kevin), Joy (Jeremy), Andrew and Ava, along with 10 great grandchildren with 2 on the way.
John enjoyed taking vacations with family and friends including the north shore in Minnesota, dancing and going to Abby's with extended family and then relaxing at the cabin at Spring Lake. He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Karen, and 5 brothers and 4 sisters

Kent and family — you have my sympathy and I am sorry to to read of your loss and know that you’re in thought. I wonder if he knew my dad? My dad grew up on a farm between Waseca, New Richland, Otisco,Ellendale and Owatonna??
