Age 88 of Bloomington. Born to Joseph and Myrtle Sorensen on September 16, 1931 in Minneapolis. Our beloved aunt peacefully passed away on May 26, 2020 due to dementia and complications from COVID-19. Joyce was like a mother to all ten of her nieces and nephews. She started out young working at Abdallah Candy. After graduating high school, she worked as an administrative assistant for Kingbay Construction. Joyce won gardening awards in her neighborhood. She was a crafter, seamstress, cross-stitcher, and a Norweigan through and through. She liked to travel, visiting Norway and Seattle several times. Joyce is preceded in death by her siblings, J. Malcolm (Margaret), Roland (Gladys), and Jean (Osmund) Olson. She is survived by her ten nieces and nephews; Patty Swedeen and Tom Sorensen; and her special friends Joann Thoreen and Gloria Millo. Graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 4 at 11 AM at Crystal Lake Cemetery. The family would like to thank Minnesota Masonic Home D2 Unit and Fairview Hospice for taking such wonderful care of Joyce.

So sorry to hear belatedly of Joyce’s passing. We “grew” up together many years ago and kept in contact with one another over the years since I moved to Kentucky. At least once a year I made the trip back home to Mpls and Joyce and I would have lunch to catch up on friends we knew mostly from Asbury Methodist church. We made a trip to Williamsburg Virginia one year together. I remember how nervous she was as I drove her car through Chicago, a trip I had made many times before. It was a fun time.
Thanks for being my friend, Joyce.
