Leland A. Randall, of Richfield, passed away on July 27th at the age of 93. Born May 19, 1924 in St. Paul to Norman and Myrtle (Haugland) Randall. Preceded in death by loving wife Gladys, parents Norman and Myrtle Randall and brother Wesley. Survived by loving children Leland, Dennis (Nancy) and Kathleen, grandchildren Lauren (Brad) Cornell, Jordan, Elise, Seth and Paul, sisters Ila Sittlow, Arlyss Butler and brother Vincent Randall. Raised in western Wisconsin, graduated from Woodville High School, the University of WI River Falls and graduate school at the University of So. Dakota, Vermillion. Entered the U.S. Army at 18 and served for three years in Europe and Japan during World War II. Started his teaching career in Harmony, MN in 1950 and moved to the Richfield School District in 1956. Retired in 1987 after 37 years of teaching. Many of his students have shared that his teaching inspired them to go into science related careers. In retirement, Lee volunteered at Fairview Southdale Hospital for 30 years with 8541 hours of service. For many years Lee and Gladys enjoyed ballroom dancing and folk dancing with the Noronna Leikarring and Nidaros Norwegian Folk Dance groups. Lee actively participated in Kontakt and sang in the Norwegian Glee Club for 30 years. He enjoyed summers at the cabin and wintering in Mesa, AZ. Lee and Gladys traveled across the U.S.,including attending many Army reunions and traveled internationally, including two trips to Norway. Lee enjoyed his Norwegian heritage and researched his family history. He and Gladys shared many Norwegian foods and traditions with family that continue today. We will miss you Dad, Grandpa. We love you very much.
