Loraine Kimbrough Dotson

Loraine Kimbrough Dotson, age 97, died peacefully at home in Minneapolis on May 1, 2016. Born to Cora Lucille and King Alphonso Kimbrough, and raised in New Castle, IN, she moved to Chicago for nurse training at Provident Hospital. Loraine was married to Robert Dotson for 59 years. They raised son Michael in Chicago; then moved to Miami, FL and Mesa, AZ. Loraine was a dedicated and caring nurse for 56 years. With an open mind and heart, she had an amazing capacity for friendship, forming bonds with those she met in all areas of her life. Loraine was spirited, kind, funny, feisty, and engaged in the world around her. She was known as "Sarge" to her sisters in the Gamma Phi Delta sorority. Loraine was loved and will be missed by hundreds of friends and family. Preceded in death by husband Bob, and sister Una May. Survived by loving son Michael; sister Emmanuella; nieces Lois (children Kim, Bill and Russell), Leslie (children Kevin and Kristen), Susan (sons Seth and Scott), and Sybil (son Jason), and nephew Harold (Daisy).
