Mara Rose Hanson - Morris Nilsen Funeral Chapel

May 14, 1975 - November 1, 2024

Mara Rose Hanson, a beloved mother, daughter, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2024, at the age of 49, following a courageous yearlong battle with endometrial cancer. Born on May 14, 1975, Mara was a radiant soul known for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering dedication to her family and her extended family at Applied Care Services.

As the proud co-owner of Applied Care Services alongside her mother, LuAnn Hanson, Mara poured her heart into building a business driven by compassion and a deep commitment to serving others. Her entrepreneurial spirit and selfless devotion left a legacy, touching the lives of clients, colleagues, and friends alike.

Mara’s greatest joy was her role as a mother to her three beloved children: Cody Jafar (29), Idrese Jafar (19), and Jared Jafar (18). She nurtured them with love, instilling in them her values of hard work, compassion, and resilience. Her children will forever carry her love and guidance, honoring the beautiful legacy she left behind.

Mara is survived by her devoted parents, Dale and LuAnn Hanson, who cherished her deeply; her children, who will forever hold her close in their hearts; and her loving brother, Mark Hanson and his wife, Valerie Deus. She was preceded in death by her beloved brothers, Paul and Jacob Hanson, whose memories she held dear, and her grandparents, who played a pivotal role in shaping the remarkable woman she became.

Mara attended Lutheran High in Bloomington for a few years before completing her senior year at Hillcrest Academy in Fergus Falls, MN. She was a light to all who knew her, remembered for her kindness, strength, and compassion. Her passing leaves an immeasurable void, but her spirit lives on in the many lives she touched. In her final days, Mara found peace, sharing, “I am at peace; I get to go to heaven.”

    Dale, Luann and family
I was deeply saddened to hear of Mara’s passing. She and I had reconnected a couple years ago and caught up on the many years since seeing one another. I remember fondly the time we spent together as children and the kindness your entire family extended then. I am inspired by the strength and resilience she carried to the end and her passion to help others even when she had significant mountains to overcome herself. I wanted to pass on my deepest sympathies to all of you and her friends. She was a very special person and will be fondly remembered for her smile, energy and passion for life. There really are no words of comfort that can fill the void left in your hearts from her passing. However, I am hopeful that the love you shared and beautiful memories made will help you all to heal in time.

  14. Carl P. Koch says:

    Dearest Dale and LuAnn:

My heart breaks with yours at the news of Mara’s death. I cannot comprehend your loss.

May I dare to suggest that my heart rejoices with yours because Mara is no longer fighting her cancer, or anything else. She is home with her Savior.

I pray that the sure and certain hope of the resurrection in Jesus, in whom Mara was baptized and lived in the abundant grace of God through Him, brings you His comfort in your grief.

May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you always.

    Carl Koch and Lori Anderson
