Margaret R. Ojala - Morris Nilsen Funeral Chapel

-

Margaret “Meg” Rose Ojala was born January 11, 1952 to Edwin and Carolyn Sahly in Minneapolis, MN. She was the oldest of two children. She married Gary Ojala, September 13, 1980, just three months after meeting. They started their lives together at Outreach Church in downtown Minneapolis. Their entire life was an adventure.
Meg was a kind and generous soul. To know her was to love her. She loved sports, especially softball and watching WWE. As an adult she was an avid outdoorswoman, and was referred to as ‘Dead-eye Mahgnet’ by her beloved husband, Gary Ojala for her shooting skills.

Meg loved her family and friends. To make sure they knew, she cooked the best food. It was her love language and her heart of service. Her dogs were her children, and she had many special pups over the years. She was an amazing ‘extra’ Mom to Erik and Jennifer and she helped them to be the best versions of themselves. She brought a special kind of love and energy wherever she was. Known as Grammy to her grandkids. She is described by her granddaughter a Fierce, because she is nice and super sweet, but has a spicy kick your ass side.

She was an active member of the the Alaska Synodical Women’s Organization, Women of the ELCA where she frequently led music with her ‘fab five’ group called His Shining Lights out of her church, Lord of Life Lutheran, in North Pole, AK. Words cannot express how deeply loved she was by her step-children, and how grateful they are that God chose her to be a part of our family.

She was preceded in death by her Parents, Edwin and Carolyn Sahly; Sister, Melissa Ebert. She leaves behind her Step-children, Erik Ojala (Barbara), Jennifer Woods (Greg) of Texas; Grandkids, Ellie and Thomas Woods.

Livestream available at River Hills UMC Facebook page and YouTube.
