Merle Adele Nyquist

Merle Adele Nyquist, age 99, of Minneapolis. Preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Nellie Anderson; husband, John (Don) Nyquist; brothers, William and Marvin. Survived by sister-in-law, Shirley (Barney) Widseth; many nieces, nephews and extended family. Merle was born on Oct. 21, 1916 in Minneapolis. She married Don on July 31, 1943. Merle worked at Sears' and Roebuck and later Mpls. Floral, whee she developed a lifelong love of fresh flowers. After Don's retirement, they moved to Mountain Home, AR. Merle returned to Minneapolis in 1985 after Don passed away. A longtime member of Mount Olivet Lutheran Church, Merle moved to Mount Olivet Home in 2007 where she expanded her circle of friends and wonderful caregivers. Merle sustained a strong bond with family and friends throughout her life. She was always a loving, generous, accepting and supportive person with a very open heart. She will be dearly missed, but we celebrate her and take comfort in knowing she had a long and very rich life.
