Richard "Dick" Wood, 84 died on Saturday, December 19, 2015 surrounded by loved ones. Dick was born in Minneapolis, MN on June 25, 1931. After graduating from Roosevelt High School, he joined the U.S. Navy from September 1951 through August 1955 where he served on the U.S. Tumult during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged after years of dedication and service. In 1956 Dick married the love of his life, Joan and had 3 beautiful children. During this time he worked many years as a sheet metal worker and was a proud member of the American Legion and the Sheet Metal Union. Throughout his lifetime, Dick enjoyed traveling and discovering the world in a whole new way with his wife. Among his hobbies, he enjoyed taking his wife dancing and spending time with his family. Dick also spent much of his time building and working on his home and cabin in Battle Lake, MN.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Joan; father, Edward; mother, Peggy and brother, Eddie. He is survived by his daughter, Terri Peterson (Don); son, Curt and daughter, Bonnie Dalbey (Gary); his 7 grandchildren, Crystal, Josh, Eric, Stacey (Gregg), Jamie, Tabitha and Christy; and great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Christopher Jr., and Connor.
