Ross W. Solomonson, age 63, of Richfield. Preceded in death by wife, Janice Lane Solomonson; and father, Warren. Survived by daughter, Sonia Solomonson; mother, Virginia Solomonson; sister, Dawna Van Otterloo (Marlow).
Sonja,
I cannot imagine your grief. I wish you peace and the sweetest memories of a good man, a man I am so proud and fortunate to have known.
Ross was my “brother”. We shared so many amazing life experiences, mostly through Boy Scouts. He had a passion for the outdoors: canoeing, hiking, camping, traveling. He captured that passion in beautiful photographs so that he could cherish those memories and share them with all of us.
Ross and I, and two friends, Denny and Bob, went on a canoe trip just a month ago. We were commemorating an ancient tradition: our annual Memorial Day canoe trip. A group of friends would spend a weekend together paddling down a river and enjoying each others company. We did that for twenty-some years, but had not done so for at least twenty. The purpose of this year’s
trip was to reconnect and to relive old memories and honor friends who have passed. How glad I am that we had that time together to do what we all loved. Now Ross is one to remember.
Ross, my Brother, my kind and gentle friend, I love you, and I miss you. There were so many things I had hoped to do with you yet. So sad that we will never do them. But I will always have my memories.
Dan
I heard yesterday about your dad. I am so sorry for your loss. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you. If you need anything please let me know. We still live in the same place.
Mary
I am a teacher at RHS and the Media Center is across the hall from my room. Ross was always so helpful and willing to do anything to make our jobs easier. I am sadden to hear of his passing since he was able to enjoy retirement for such a short time. He had many plans for his future. Ross will always be remembered as a kind, caring man. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. Pam KK
Please accept my condolences for your loss. I worked with Ross here in Richfield and did many teacher’s union projects with him. He was a kind and generous man and was always working to help others. He will be greatly missed.
Sonia, words cannot convey how sorry I am for your loss. Your father was one of the most selfless men I have ever known. His energy for life was contagious; he continues to have a great and constant force at Richfield High School. He will be greatly missed.
I am so sorry to hear of the passing of one of the kindest men I’ve ever met. I also knew Ross from Scouting. His soft-spoken ways as a leader when I was young to his warm humor and friendship as an adult enriched my days in old Troop 110. I’m not surprised to read such wonderful testimonials about him in the other parts of his life. Camp well, my friend.
