Ruth Bjork Bray Beckman
Age 99, a beloved resident of Mainstreet Village in Richfield, MN for many years. Ruth was born on December 31, 1916 and passed away peacefully on January 12, 2016. She is preceded in death by her first husband Clifford Lawrence Bray in 1954, second husband Earl C. Beckman in 2001 and three sisters Myrtle Jansen, Mildred Auger, and Betty Pendergast.
She is survived by her daughters Barbara Bray Lukaszewki (James) & Bonny Bray Skovbroten (John) and stepson Richard Beckman (Luanne.) Four grandchildren Charles Lukaszewski (Sahar El-Etr), James Alexander (Merideth), Katherine Schackor Brown (Christopher), & Kristen Skovbroten Gorman (Jonathan), step granddaughters Susan Booth and Linda Beckman, 4 great grandchildren, 2 step great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, & Otto.
Ruth grew up in Robbinsdale, graduated from North High & attended the University of Minnesota. She worked many years at the Colony Restaurant in the Medical Arts Building, then at the University of Minnesota pathology lab. Ruth touched many hearts with her volunteer efforts including coordinating Faith Lilac Way Church smorgasbord dinners in her early years & knitting over 2000 pairs of mittens for Mount Olivet Church. Ruth had a great love of life, immense love of others, & an incredible sense of humor with the ability to graciously entertain everyone she touched. In recognition of her remarkable spirit & inspirational life, a celebration will be held at a later date. Ruthie & her sugar cookies will be dearly missed.
The family appreciates the wonderful staff & friends at Mainstreet Village, Dr. Jeffrey Larkin, Annie Watson & all the other phenomenal staff with Park Nicollet Methodist Hospice, & N.C. Little Hospice.
Memorials are preferred to Faith Lilac Way Church, Mount Olivet Rolling Acres, Mainstreet Village’s Avinity Foundation, or donor’s choice.
