Tim Johnson - Morris Nilsen Funeral Chapel

January 10, 1945 - January 10, 2024

Timothy L. Johnson

Age 79 of Richfield passed away on his birthday, January 10, 2024. Survived by his wife and best friend of 52 years, Susan; son, Casey (Sara); daughter Wendy (Jeff) Ahern; and grandchildren Ben (20), Natalie (20), Easton (19), Sam (18), Kate (16), and Allie (16).

Tim did not talk about it, but he was a proud Veteran of the United States Army. He was drafted and in Army Intelligence during Vietnam. Tim was a proud member of the Richfield Police Department for 27 years, retiring in 2000. After retirement he spent his summers fishing, golfing and enjoying friends at their “little house”, at Bowen’s Lodge on Lake Winnibigoshish. Winter months were spent at their condo rental in Panama City Beach, FL. Tim loved his time there and spent countless hours walking the beach collecting shells, being on the golf course, and enjoying their condo family. He was a devoted husband, a great dad, but his favorite title was “Grandpa Tim”. His greatest joy was being present and a part of his grandkids lives. Most days you would find “Grandpa Tim” at a hockey rink, a football field or a snowboard hill, because if they were there he was going to be there supporting them.

Tim was not always one to show it. He cherished family and the close friendships he had. If you were lucky enough to be loved by him, you certainly knew it.

In lieu of flowers, donations preferred to a charity of the family’s choice.

I have such fun memories of Knox Ave and Tim was a big part of them. As teenagers, we knew who to call when we got caught T.P.ing. a friend’s house. Tim was a great police “connection”- and would usually come with a life lesson. So many great times-babysitting Casey and Wendy, watching the kids grow through sports, neighborhood shenanigans, and so many laughs. When I think of Tim, I think of a father like figure who was there for a hug when needed and was one of my favorite neighbors. Thank you for being a big part of my growing up years. Sue and kids- keep those memories close, talk about your dad always, and know I understand the deep pain of losing a dad. Love you. -Kristin

Our deepest sympathies to Sue and family upon the loss of Tim. We had the pleasure of renting next to Tim and Sue several winters in PCB Fla and loved celebrating bday’s, fish fry’s and Valentine meals.. Golfing with Tim and Sue was always a great time. And always enjoyed poker with Tim. And Tim was in our 1981 wedding party. A lot of history!
While working with Tim as police officers for over 25 years I saw what a kind and compassionate heart Tim had both on and off the job. Our hearts dearly miss him.
