Virginia M. Solomonson

Virginia M. Solomonson, age 99, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at HCMC in Minneapolis. She was born on September 30, 1919, in Minneapolis, to Henry Olson and Ida Gustafson. She was a 1937 graduate of Roosevelt High School. She married her one true love, Warren Edward Solomonson on October 11, 1942. During WWII. while Warren was away, she worked at Pillsbury. She and Warren had two children together, Dawna and Ross. Virginia was a homemaker, worked for several years doing office work, enjoyed making elaborate cakes, participated in a mother's group that did singing and dancing. During her later years, she enjoyed making people feel special by making them cards, embroidery, and traveling with her brother. She lived independently even up until the end. During her last few years, she enjoyed sitting by the telephone waiting for a call, while fixing her hair. She didn't go a day without some chocolate or a chocolate chip cookie. She is loved by many and will be greatly missed. Survived by daughter Dawna (Marlow) Van Otterloo; granddaughters, Lisbeth (Carly) Mingo, Sonia (Mark) Couch, and Becca (Josh) Vanderberg; great-grandchildren Kylie, Emma, Noah, Oliver, Finnegan, Olivia, Larry and Josiah; brother Richard (Shirley) Olson; niece Jaclyn (Jerry) Robb; as well as many loving friends and relatives. Preceded in death by husband Warren Solomonson; son Ross (Janice) Solomonson; parents Henry and Ida Olson; and sister Dorothy Thompson.
