    • Kim/David and Gene says:

Hi Cassie, Thank you for your sweet comments regarding our son, Zach. I know Zach really loved Kaiah. He loved her even more than his beloved Vikings. He had the best smile in the world and a great sense of humor.

  4. Mari & Scott Sorgatz says:

You know how much we love Zach!! We are so sorry and will be praying for all of you! Zach bled purple & gold! I will continue to think, what is Zach screaming at the TV right now, when the Vikings mess up! He was such a good kid! Full of life and fun! Kind and forgiving! See, to me, Zach was always perfect! When you love someone, you see the good in them…and he is SO loved!!!! I will continue my nephew Zach broccoli story, he wasn’t going to eat them, until I told him they were miniature trees, he was so little then! God bless you Zachary Edwin Patrick! Thank you for entering our lives, we are the lucky ones to have had you!! We will forever love you and miss you until we see you again!!

    • Kim/David and Gene says:

Thanks Mari and Scott for your very kind words. As Zach’s Aunt and Uncle he loved and respected you. I am still just in shock that when I call him to hear his voice that he doesn’t pick up. We have learned so many things about Zach since his death. He lived his life the way he wanted to. He would take advice however, ultimately do what was in his heart. He purposely wouldn’t tell some things as he didn’t want us to worry. He changed our lives. He changed our worlds and he changed us forever. Thankfully, we also all share the strong faith that he had and our memories will help us survive this unimaginable tragedy.

  5. Reo Ford says:

I will always cherish the friendship I had with Zach. I had spoken to him 2 days prior to the incident, and we were going to try and coordinate a dinner with some coworkers we had at Treasure Island Casino to catch up. I’m deeply saddened by the fact that I will never get to hug Zach after not seeing him for so long and being able to hear stories about what he had been up to. But, I take comfort in knowing that he is free from any hardships and pain. I’ll always miss his friendship.

I hope God covers your family in comfort, peace, and love as you navigate this loss.

    • Kim/David and Gene says:

What you wrote, Reo is just beautiful. Thank you for sharing your story of how Zach impacted your life. You are right though, having the comfort that he believed in Christ has its tremendous
rewards. Much of what his friends are saying we (his family) never knew about him. We never knew all of the unselfish ways that he helped people. We too have to keep our faith like Zach, so we can all move forward with the hand of the Lord and the peace He offers us.

  6. Vicki Ford says:

I never got to meet this sweet young man. He was good friends with my daughter’s Tiffany and Reo. I heard nothing but good things about him from the times they worked together at treasure Iland. Even after they all moved on to other jobs he was such a good friend He was there in a heartbeat to help in any situation if they needed. As a mom I am so proud to say my daughter’s were blessed to have this incredible sweet young man in their lives.

    • David/Kim and Gene says:

Hi Vicki, Your words mean so much to me as Zach’s mother. I met Tiffany this week. She is such a sweet young lady. She brought her friend to take these two sweet sister kittens and I couldn’t feel better about giving them a home where I know they will be loved. As much as often said, family many times, doesn’t know that impact their children have on others; good or bad. It has been a tragic, but yet incredible week learning about Zach and his generousity to others. As terrible as it is, I have never been prouder of him and his loving kindness that was given in generousity to others in need. Thank you for sharing your story.

  7. Melody Sorgatz says:

I am so sorry about zach! Even though he was only my first cousin once removed the time I knew him was always filled with laughs

    • Kim/David and Gene says:

Hi Melody- You’re right. He had a great smile and loved to laugh. Etch that laugh into your memory bank. It will help Zach live on in your heart. Thank you for sharing…….

  8. Carie Rodgers says:

We are praying for your family.

    • Kim/David and Gene says:

      Hi Carie and Wayland,

Thank you both for your prayers and thoughts during this horrific time in our family. I am still in disbelief and the worst thing for parents to have to endure. We are all so sad. Somehow, we will learn to turn our pain into a positive in memory of how Zach treated others. I am just so proud of how he treated his friends and co workers. It does ease the pain to know how his community remembers him. And, his faith was unwavering, I’ve never seen a yourng man talk as openly to his parents about his wishes. I feel I was particularly fortunate to listen to his feelings on dying and not worrying about regrets or his faith and living on in eternal life. God knew this will be a life-long gift. Someday I will rejoin him and then I will have a whole heart again…. thank you for being our friends.

  14. Kristi Jacobsen says:

Zach had A big heart. We were not close as much as most people writing, but I did want to tell him thank you for thinking of me at a hard time in my life. I had just found out I had lupus and a week later he called me and said he just donated $100 in my name on KFAN on the yearly lupus awareness day in May. I was so touched on this act of kindness. It was a time when I was trying to figure out this nasty disease myself and he was thinking of me and that meant the world to me. Zack I promise to help Robin with Kiaha, sending lots of love to your family at this hard time. Love to all of you!!!

  15. Carla Fredrickson says:

  16. Jill Levorson says:

Dearest Kim, David, Gene, Mandy, Leietta, Alyse, Zora, Jonathan, Robin and sweet little Kaiah (who looks identical to Zach when he was little),
Such a beautiful smile Zach had, will stick in my mind forever. He always had a hug for me whenever I saw him. Mike and I were so glad we got to see him at Leietta’s graduation party. And, of course, when Zach, Robin and I moved you, Kim, out to California (when David was already there), the trip would NEVER have been the same without Zach with us! I love him as I love all of your children, and I will be there for you and your family, Kim, whenever you need me! Love and blessings to you all and Zach, till we meet again, you are truly an ANGEL of the Lord. Love, Jill

  17. David Burski says:
